reminiscing high school...

I just finished watching Proposal Daisakusen, a Japanese drama that tells the story of a young man named Ken who attends his childhood friend Rei's wedding.  As the ceremony progresses, he feels more and more regretful of the fact that he was not able to properly confess his feelings for her when he had the chance.  To Ken's surprise, a faery appears and offers to send him back in time to give him a second chance to win Rei's heart.

I don't watch a lot of Japanese dramas but I really liked this one.  It kind of makes you feel reminiscent of your high school years...

Incidentally, someone posted a "high school survey" in my Friendster bulletin board.  And I'm going to answer it, too.

Which high school did you go to?
Manila Science High School.

What was your favorite term/year?
Hmmm... Each year was pretty memorable, but I'm going to say my senior year.

Were you popular?
I wouldn't call myself popular, though I knew a lot of people and a lot of people knew me.  Thanks to mIRC.

Did you excell academically?
Nah, I was lazy.  I didn't exert much effort completing reports, assignments or reviewing for exams.  Though I made sure that I didn't flunk any subject.

Did you participate in any contest?
No.

How did your classmates describe you?
Haha.  I have here with me the notebook I asked people to write me goodbye messages to.  And people seem to think that I was nice, quiet, patient, and that I was a good friend.

Do you remember the name of your seatmate?
We had different seating arrangements per subject, so I'd rather not enumerate all my seatmates.

Did you join any clubs?
I don't think we had clubs (did we?).  But I joined, much to my disappointment, Ms. Gallardo's Journalism class in my senior year.  And, as the class VP, I was also a member of the Student Council (or whatever it was called back then).

Where did you usually hang out?
- Lover's lane, and we were always there in groups spying on lovers... LOL.
- under the ComSci building (it's not really under the building)
- the retail store where my friends and I would wait for my crush to buy something
- the grand stand during my freshman year (it was torn down to make way for the construction of the Maceda Building)
- the round tables beside the stage

Describe your high school uniform.
White sailor-type blouse with pockets at the bottom and a royal blue, 4-inches-below-the-knee-length skirt.  Look:

I'm the one at the leftmost.  The one who took the picture must
have hated me back then. Kidding.

Who was/were your favorite teacher/s?
Let's see. I liked Sir Jing (4th year, Linear Algebra and Number Theory), Ms. Pangilinan (3rd year, Trigonometry), Mr. Morales (ahem... 3rd year, Chemistry), and Messrs Bautista (2nd and 3rd year, Physics) and Bulaclac (1st and 2nd year, THE) were pretty nice, too.

Were you sent to the guidance office often?
Once.  Mrs. Banta, the principal, thought my skirt's length was longer than prescribed.

Your favorite part of the school was...?
The spot in front of the Bordner building, where the photo above was taken.  It was where my friends and I would play dodge ball and practice for anything.

Who was your first friend?
The first one I got to know was Krizle Juban.  She became my best friend not long after that.

What did you usually do after class?
I always went straight home or hung out with my classmates at Robinson's Ermita.

Who was your best friend?
I had more than one:  Krizle, Tania, Vangie, Ace, Aya, and Dennis.  I had a barkada and I loved every one of them, but these 6 people were whom I really opened up to.

Did you have enemies?
None, but I did hate some people, like the crush of my crush, teachers, my friends' enemies, and some others who were just plain annoying. LOL.

What were your favorite school events?
Sabayang Pagbigkas!  We never won first place, but it was really fun.

Who made you laugh the most?
My friends, especially Dino.

Did someone make you cry?
Yep.

Who was your first high school crush?
- Freshman year: Patrick F.
- 2nd to 4th year:  Christian G., who was from the batch after us.

Did you fall in love?
Yes.

How about out of love?
No.

Who was your Prom date?
Junior Prom, I went with Mark.  Senior Prom, my friends and I agreed that we won't come with anyone.  Haha.

Who was your last dance?
Junior Prom, my date.  Senior Prom, my best friend Ace.

Who do you miss the most?
Lots of people.  My barkada mostly.  I wish we could play dodge ball again one last time. Maybe we are too old for that, but who cares.

How was your love life then?
It was... uhm, it's something.  No comment.

What's your most memorable experience?
Everything was great and I can't pick just one right now.  But out of the top of my head, I'm going to say Senior Prom.

Do you have an embarrassing moment?
Oh my god, yes.

Do you have any regrets?
Nothing major but I should have studied more.  Haha.

If you could go back to one moment in your high school life, which moment and why?
It would be fun to relive Senior Prom.  Harhar...

How was your graduation?
It was... not that emotional as I though it would be.  But it was moving, still.

Do you still talk to your high school friends?
Sadly, not that much.

I am now giving you a chance to tell something to 3 persons from high school.  Start.

- Person 1: You were always there for me.  Without thinking, you were the one I instantly went to for advice.  You always knew what to say to make me feel better.  I don't think I have thanked you enough and I'm sorry for that.  I miss you, and I hope we can set a reunion with the gang.  I love you, friend! (Actually, this one's for 2 of my best friends)

- Person 2: Though you weren't aware of my existence in high school, you were the one responsible for most of my kilig moments.  And fate rewarded me after 3 long years of silently admiring you from a distance.  You might not remember, but you (and well, Dennis) were my first dance in my Senior Prom.  It still makes me smile that out of the number of Juniors participating in the Cotillion, somehow, we ended up as partners.

- Person 3: You made my high school life both painful and wonderful that I wasn't sure before if I should be grateful for meeting you.  But I thought, if I were to experience high school again, would I have done it any differently?  Would I have listened to my friends and stayed away?  Well, I wouldn't.  I realize there are things that I would not have now if not for you, and for that I am genuinely thankful.

In one word, describe your high school life.
Priceless.

I was smiling while answering this survey.  Is that weird? Haha...
